Auto Off

Power saving feature - choose 2, 5 or 8 minutes no activity and the balance will shut off automatically.  You can also disable the auto off feature so the balance never shuts off unless you press the "ON/OFF" keypad.  Unlike other scales the Auto-Off feature works both when operated or AC Adapter or battery (most scales the Auto-Off function on works when powered on batteries).

3 Selectable backlight modes

1. Auto backlight mode - When the weight is over 10 scale divisions or any of the keys are pressed, the backlight will be turned ON.  When the display shows zero for about 8 seconds, the backlight will go OFF automatically.
2. Backlight will always be ON
3. Backlight feature disabled and will always be turned OFF.

To ensure consistent accuracy and tip-top performance the ACBplus can be easily calibrated using the auto calibration function through the keypad.  Auto Calibration requires that you have the calibration mass.  These masses are optional accessories and we ALWAYS recommend that you purchase the calibration mass so that you never need a scale company to service your scale and charge you some outrageous price.  Most scales on the market today including the ACBplus Series incorporate custom designed integrated circuits resulting in really nothing a local scale company can do to service a scale.  Basically, all they can do is come out with a bottle of Windex or Fantastik and clean the exterior body of the scale and calibrate the scale. 

If there are ever any other problems with the scale other than calibration then it really can only be serviced by the manufacturer, Adam Equipment in Danbury, CT, since the motherboard consist of VLSI(very large scale integrated circuits) and we know of very few scale service companies with a digital logic analyzer, or the proper tools to remove and replace surface mount fine pitch components.  Typically the time to resolve a board problem is best solved by just replacing the whole board and we feel the manufacturer is best to make this decision.  All Adam Equipment products are backed with a 12 month manufacturer's warranty for parts and labor under normal use.

The ACB offers a unique feature enabling you to customize the calibration weight anywhere over the scale's weighing range.  Most balances offer only the choice of one calibration weight while other models might let the operator choose one of 3 pre-selected values.  The ACB gives you the freedom to select any value to calibrate the scale, although we always recommend calibration a scale at 2/3 to full capacity.  By accessing the function menu you can custom configure the set-up parameters.

Additional customized set-up parameters include:

• Initial weigh unit the ACB powers up.  This is a convenient feature and lets you power up the scale in carats if you're a jeweler, pennyweight if you're a scrap precious metal dealer, grains if you're a marksman for making ammunition.  If you don't want to use this feature you can still use the "UNIT" button and scroll through 1 of 13 weigh modes.
• Disable weigh units.  If you are using the ACB in a production environment and want to make sure your workers are never weighing in any other modes than pounds you have the ability to disable all other weigh modes via the function menu.  Using this feature removes that weighing mode from the choices available when one presses the "UNIT" key.
• Auto Zero recovery range. Choose the auto zero recovery range from 0 to 3 scale divisions. The auto-zeroing feature is internal software that compensates for drift from the loadcell.  Problems can occur when light items/powder (2 or 3 scale divisions) are added to the platform and the internal software thinks the change on the loadcell is due to draft when it is actually the added weight on the platform.  With scales like the Ohaus Scout and Acculab VI-Series which don't allow the operator to disable the auto zeroing feature it is possible literally to add a powder in 3 division interval over hundreds of times and the display will still show 0.0.
