 Sartorius
is a German company and maker of some of the world's finest
balances since 1871 when they introduced the world's first pharmaceutical
balance. Only Sartorius shatters the limits when "the
Guinness
Book of World Records" listed the Sartorius Model 4108
as the most accurate balance in the world. Sartorius has
been proving their trustworthiness thanks to their top-of-the-line
technology that ensures maximum accuracy. Sartorius products

Sartorius' excellent reputation and image in the technologically
sophisticated field of weighing balances make them a global
leader. Sartorius' endeavors to expand its traditionally
outstanding position on the market for laboratory weighing balances
now targets the jewelry and geologist marketplace.
The GC-503 is the ultimate analytical balances for the lapidary
marketplace. The GC-503 has very similar features to the
Sartorius
BL60S and BL120S Analytical Balance, but sold for hundreds
less. Basically, the gem market place is extremely price
sensitive market sector verses the laboratory marketplace so
Sartorius developed the GC-503 with a special price to meet
the pricing requirements for the jewelry marketplace.
Whether you're weighing diamonds or chemical compounds the GC-503
offers 101 gram weighing capacity and increments in 0.2mg intervals.
One feature that we really like is low profile design of the
GC-503 resulting in less bench space compared to conventional
analytical balances. The height from pan to top of glass
door is only 5.23 inch high with the GC-503 verses for example
the Sartorius BL120S
is 7.9 inch in height from the pan to top of glass. We
see a lot of images in trade magazines showing analytical balances
with tall weigh chambers having a large glass flask or beaker,
but these photos are not really practical since the weight of
the beaker/flask would typically exceed the weighing capacity
of the balance especially if the beaker/flask is even half way
filled with liquid.
At no time can the total mass on the platform exceed the weighing
capacity of the balance, no matter what balance you purchase.
Therefore, if you had a glass beaker weighing 70 grams and you
place it on the weighing pan, pressed the tare button, the GC-503
would then display 0.0000g. You would now have 31 grams
weighing capacity left (101 - 70 = 31g.) The point we
are trying to stress is having a tall draft shield "typically
does not offer you any benefits". In the real world
most people are using polystyrene weigh
boats and beakers that weigh much less than glass, thus
allowing you to weigh your solutions and compounds which is
really the objective of using the balance.
 The
GC-503 produces steady readings using the high stability mode
and the unique Sartorius weighing system even if the environmental
conditions are not ideal for precision weighing. The Double
Lever System, or DLS, for short based on its special force transmission
design. With this patented system, Sartorius sets the
technological standards for the new millennium.
Just like the proven monolithic systems in Sartorius' CP
Series and Master
proSeries balances, this new "small" system is
cut from a single block of a special, highly rugged aluminum
alloy using high-speed 21st century milling technology.
The double lever principle offers two decisive advantages: the
design in the area of the pan linkage is highly resistant to
mechanical stress and therefore has exceptionally high mechanical
stability, and the system is about half the size of the monolithic
block cell, allowing for a smaller footprint. Like the
monolithic weigh cell, it is cut from a single block of aluminum
and no screw fasteners are needed between functional parts.
This keeps the system less sensitive to fluctuations in temperature,
and with fewer parts there is less chance of failure.
The Monolithic DLS system offers unbeatable advantages for daily
use like Incredibly fast response time and Unfailing
reliability and near-zero susceptibility to interference.
The reasons for these considerable advantages are two fold:
the number of individual parts has been reduced by more than
70% and the mechanical construction has been designed to last
for years of trouble-free operations. |
